"Out Of My League"
By Stephen Speaks
"it's her hair and her eyes today
that just simply take me away
and the feeling that i'm falling further in love
makes me shiver but in a good way
all the times i have sat and stared
as she thoughtfully thumbs through her hair
and she purses her lips, bats her eyes as she plays,
with me sitting there slack-jawed and nothing to say
coz i love her with all that i am
and my voice shakes along with my hands
coz she’s all that I see and she’s all that I need
and i'm out of my league once again
it's a masterful melody when she calls out my name to me
as the world spins around her she laughs, rolls her eyes
and i feel like i'm falling but it's no surprise
coz i love her with all that i am
and my voice shakes along with my hands
cause it's frightening to be swimming in this strange sea
but i'd rather be here than on land
yes she's all that i see and she's all that i need
and i'm out of my league once again
it's her hair and her eyes today
that just simply take me away
and the feeling that i'm falling further in love
makes me shiver but in a good way
all the times i have sat and stared
as she thoughtfully thumbs through her hair
and she purses her lips, bats her eyes as she plays,
with me sitting there slack-jawed and nothing to say
coz i love her with all that i am
and my voice shakes along with my hands
cause it's frightening to be swimming in this strange sea
but i'd rather be here than on land
yes she's all that i see and she's all that i need
and i'm out of my league once again."
GOAL: The goal is for the man to be with the most amazing woman he’s ever seen.
ARGUMENT: His argument is even though he is “out of his league” when it comes to dating this woman, he would rather be feeling like this than anything else. He knows everything about her and loves her. Because of this, he is the best fit for the woman.

They are able to connect with the writer through love and romance.
LOGOS – This song appeals to the audience’s logic because of how reasonable it is for this man to be with this woman. He will treat her right because of how in love with her he is, making it only reasonable that they be together.
STAR – Sufficient – This song definitely has enough evidence to prove in words that the man loves the woman. By giving all the details about her, he shows how much of a privilege he feels it is to be with her. He gives many examples of why he loves her, therefore giving sufficient evidence.
Relevant – This song is relevant in the fact that it connects to the audience. Every woman wants romance and wants to feel they are loved. The words that he uses and the phrases he says connects to the audience and therefore, relevant to his goal.
IS IT EFFECTIVE: This song is very effective. It always makes me smile and I hope that my husband feels the same way about me. When hearing this song, I think that any man that feels this way about a certain woman deserves her and they would be happy together.

Rhetorical Analysis #2 - Commercial
Argument: You should buy shoes from Footlocker because they have the best products for sports.
Audience: Any person that is interested in sporting activities.
Goal: To get the audience to purchase shoes from Footlocker.
How:
ETHOS: This commercial uses ethos by using celebrity endorsements. This commercial had very well known NBA basketball players. By using these famous athletes, the audience will be more willing to buy shoes from Footlocker because they want to be just like the famous athletes. The commercial appeals to consumers by using ethos.
PATHOS: This commercial uses pathos by appealing to the audience’s emotions. The audience are people that are athletes and competitive. This commercial appeals to their competiveness and makes the athlete want to get ahead of their competition. They will feel as though if they buy shoes from Footlocker, they will get ahead of the next person.
LOGOS: This commercial uses logos by making it seem reasonable to buy these shoes. One of the famous athletes says “What sucks more than training? Losing. What sucks more than losing? Nothing.” By adding this quote in the commercial, it entices customers to want to buy these new products because there is nothing worse than losing and they don’t want it to happen to them. This product is a reasonable product and it is logical to purchase the shoes.
Is it effective: This commercial is very effective because of what the product is they are trying to sell and the fact that they have some of the best athletes in the world selling them. Knowing that a famous basketball player or football player wears these kinds of shoes makes any normal Joe Shmoe that is interested in sports want to buy them and wear them as well.

Rhetorical Analysis #1 - Still Advertisement

Goal: The goal of this advertisement is to get consumers to purchase Coca-Cola products.
Audience: The audience is both men and women of all ages who drink soda.
Argument: The argument of this advertisement is you should drink Coca-Cola because it will not only satisfy your appetite, but you will be just like celebrities who drink it as well.
How:
ETHOS - This advertisement uses celebrity endorsements to appeal to its customers. It uses the shape of the Coke bottle with pictures of all the famous people on the inside. This makes the customers feel as though they can be just like the celebrities and be "cool".
PATHOS - The advertisement appeals to a customer's feelings by making them feel cool and important. For men, they see the pretty women on the bottle and feel as though if they drink it, they can be with those women. For women, they feel important by boosting their self-esteem and feeling as though they are as pretty as the famous women.
LOGOS - This advertisement is saying that drinking Coca-Cola is reasonable because "classics never go out of style". Coke is considering itself a classic giving justice for people to drink it.
Is it effective: I think that this advertisement would be very effective. The media plays such a big role and because there are classic famous people on the bottle, customers are going to want to be like them. Coke also brings out the point that it is a classic. If something has been around for a while, it must still be a good product.
